🛰️ PlanetSide 2’s 13th Anniversary – The Infiltrator Gets Nerfed (and More!)

Thirteen years. Hundreds of battles. Thousands of salty deaths by cloakers.
Yep — PlanetSide 2 is officially a teenager, and the devs are celebrating with a massive update that brings Infiltrator nerfs, new implants, animated camouflages, and a juicy two-week Double XP event.

Here’s the breakdown of what’s coming to Auraxis this November.

🥷 Infiltrator Nerf (Sorry, “Rework”)

After months of PTS testing, the sneakiest class in PlanetSide 2 just got rebalanced — or as every veteran would say, nerfed.

Here’s what got hit:

  • Longer delay between decloaking and firing.
  • Cloaked players are easier to see and hear up close.
  • Stalker Cloak: no more infinite stealth while moving.
  • Wraith Cloak (Flash): weaker invisibility and slower post-cloak firing.

In short: stealth got riskier. You’ll still outplay people with skill, but it’s no longer “press F to vanish and farm.”

🧿 New Recon Drone – Spycraft 2.0

To soften the blow, Infiltrators get a brand-new toy: the Recon Drone.
You can fly it around to mark enemies, scout objectives, and even drop grenades — but there’s a catch:

  • You’re completely vulnerable while piloting it.
  • The drone’s battery and HP are limited.
  • It can’t be used while cloaked.
  • And no, you can’t strap C4 to it (RIP kamikaze dreams).

Still, for intel-driven squads, it’s an awesome addition that adds more tactical play.

⚙️ New Implants Across the Board

  • Engineer – Observer: Spitfire turrets can now spot and shoot cloaked Infiltrators.
  • Engineer – Sharing Is Caring: Drain your own shield to boost allies nearby.
  • Combat Medic – Hospitaller: Reviving allies temporarily increases your personal shield.
  • Infiltrator – Remote Hacking: Hack turrets and terminals remotely through your Recon Drone.

Honestly, the Observer implant alone might make life miserable for stealth mains.

🔭 Scope Glint – Snipers, You’re Exposed

Scopes with 6× zoom or higher now emit a visible glint when aiming down sights.
It’s a small flash, but it’s enough to warn enemies of your presence.

Translation: No more camping with a black cloak and zero counterplay.
You can disable allied glints in settings if you don’t want your faction mates giving off flashbang vibes.

🛰️ Spotting Tool Adjustments

The Recon Drone made other Infiltrator tools a bit too strong, so devs scaled them down:

  • Motion Spotter: drastically reduced carry capacity.
  • Recon Darts: fewer charges, smaller detection range.

You’ll need to be more selective — no more dropping motion spotters like breadcrumbs.

💎 Double XP Event (Nov 13–28, 2025)

Two glorious weeks of Double XP for everyone.
Perfect time to test the new gear, regrind certs, or just farm kills with your favorite faction.

🐛 Fixes & Known Issues

  • Flash + Stalker Cloak exploit (no more ghost riders).
  • Water clipping through terrain on Esamir.
  • NS Candycannon 3000 finally plays a reload sound.
  • Muertos Mask should now be account-wide.

Known Bug:
Buying a Bastion right now is a bad idea — boarding it ejects you into space. Literally.

🎯 Final Thoughts

The Infiltrator may have taken a nerf-bat to the face, but this update still brings life to a 13-year-old MMOFPS. Between new toys, fresh cosmetics, and Double XP, PlanetSide 2 is proving it’s still the king of large-scale chaos.

If you’ve been away for a while, now’s a perfect time to cloak back in — just don’t expect to stay invisible forever.
