How to find Field Crates, deliver them safely, and avoid getting jumped by other Raiders.

Field Crates in Arc Raiders are one of the earliest “oh god I can’t shoot” moments the game throws at you — and Down To Earth is basically your first taste of that extraction-stress lifestyle.
If you’re struggling to even find a Field Crate (completely normal), or wondering how to deliver one before someone camps the drop-off spot, this guide will sort you out.

🌍 Down To Earth Quest Overview

Quest Giver: Shani (via Security Terminal)
Objective:

  • Find one Field Crate
  • Carry it (with both hands!)
  • Deliver it to a Field Depot / Supply Station
  • Extract safely

Rewards:

  • Combat Mk.1 Augment
  • Medium Shield

Simple in theory.
Sketchy in practice.

🔍 What Are Field Crates? (And Why They’re a Pain to Find)

Field Crates are huge silver chests scattered around specific loot-heavy areas.
They cannot be stored in your backpack.
You must carry them — meaning:

✔ You can’t shoot
✔ You can’t melee
✔ You can only waddle around
✔ You are a free delivery target for other players

This quest is the game’s way of saying:

“Welcome to Arc Raiders. Never feel safe again.”

🛠️ How To Complete Down To Earth (Step-By-Step)

1. Head to Any Field Depot Area

The easiest map for this quest:

Dam Battlegrounds

This zone has plenty of Field Crate spawns, and depots are always nearby.

Your map will show Field Depot icons, but not Field Crates.

2. Search the Area for a Field Crate

Field Crates spawn:

  • Near broken structures
  • Inside half-collapsed buildings
  • Beside debris piles
  • In supply zones
  • Near damaged ARC crash sites

They can be annoyingly well-hidden.
Take your time and sweep each section.

3. Ping the Crate (Optional but Useful)

Once you find a crate, ping it so teammates know what you’re hauling.
Randoms often help — and enemies often come running.

4. Pick Up the Field Crate

Once you pick it up:

  • You become unarmed
  • Movement slows down
  • You can’t ADS or shoot
  • You can’t use ladders or certain gaps

If you’re solo, avoid high-traffic zones.
Stick to back alleys and broken corridors.

(Gamenautica tip: If you hear a Hornet while carrying a crate? Hide. Don’t be a hero.)

5. Carry It to the Nearest Field Depot

Depots are small supply stations with a glowing panel and a crate slot.
They are ALWAYS placed close to Field Crate spawn zones.

Once you drop the crate into the slot:

  • A short processing animation plays
  • The objective updates
  • And here’s the important part:
Even outside this quest, depositing a Field Crate rewards you with random loot.

You can receive:
✔ Weapons
✔ Ammo
✔ Medical items
✔ Crafting components
✔ Grenades
✔ Other early-game material

So you never leave empty-handed — even if your run so far has been trash.

This is why experienced players don’t ignore Field Crates.
They’re basically little “loot jackpots” scattered across the map.

6. Extract

Your quest will not complete until you leave the raid alive.

Use:
✔ Subway
✔ Elevator
✔ Raider Hatch (if you have a key)
✔ Or the nearest extraction route

Do not get greedy.
Do not loot “just one more room.”
Turn in your quest and get out clean.

🎁 Down To Earth Quest Rewards

When completed, you receive:

  • Combat Mk.1 Augment
  • Medium Shield

Nothing exotic, but both help smooth your early-game survivability.

💡 Gamenautica Final Thoughts

Down To Earth teaches one of Arc Raiders’ most underrated mechanics:
Field Crates equal guaranteed bonus loot.

Even after the quest is long done, crates become little “risk-reward vaults” that can top up your loadout or give you a free run’s worth of crafting parts.

This quest reinforces several habits that will carry you through the game:

  • Check high-value zones carefully
  • Use cover wisely while carrying
  • Stick to safe routes instead of sprinting through open ground
  • Watch for other players (Field Depots attract everyone)
  • Extract the moment your crate is delivered — don’t get greedy

Once this becomes second nature, you’ll start earning consistent loot between raids, even on bad runs.

Arc Raiders rewards players who stay alert, play smart, and capitalize on small advantages.
Field Crates are one of those advantages.
