🟦 Overview
The Rescue is one of Cyberpunk 2077’s early “welcome to Night City” missions. You and Jackie respond to an SOS for a missing client, Sandra Dorsett — believed to be snatched by scavs harvesting cyberware.
This mission teaches you:
- stealth basics
- hacking doors
- scanning bodies
- optional takedowns
- early combat
- the Trauma Team response
- shooting from a moving vehicle
Let’s break it down step-by-step.
🟧 Walkthrough
1. Talk to Jackie

The mission begins immediately after your lifepath intro. Jackie asks if you want to practice combat.
Dialogue:
- “Sure, a little warm-up can’t hurt.” → Starts the optional Practice Makes Perfect module
- “Don’t have time for this.” → Skip directly to gameplay
Choose whatever fits your playthrough — it won’t change the story.
2. Exit the AV / Car
Step outside.
You also unlock the achievement The Fool here.
3. Follow Jackie
Head around the garage corner. Loot any junk on the floor — it’s all crafting material early on.
4. Take the Elevator

Get inside and select the Apartments floor. T-Bug calls you with intel.
Timed dialogue choices here don’t affect the outcome.
5. Head to the Apartment
Walk with Jackie down the hallway to the marked door.
6. Hack the Door

Use your scanner (L1/LB / middle mouse / tab) → quickhack the lock → enter.
7. Inspect the First Body

Scan the woman on the table. Not your target.
8. Move to the Next Room
Go through the door Jackie opens.
🟩 Stealth Options (Optional but Recommended)
The next rooms contain several scavs. You can go loud or sneak.
Optional: Sneak kill the first scav
He’s by a large chest.
- Walk behind → grab → lethal or non-lethal takedown
- Drop him in the chest
Optional: Avoid detection

Hide behind crates until two scavs walk past you.
Optional: Double takedown
Move up with Jackie — he’ll grab one while you neutralize the other.
Optional: Use T-Bug’s route
There’s a broken wall you can squeeze through to flank the scav leader.
Stealth here saves ammo and keeps combat simple.
🟥 9. Defeat the Scavenger Leader

Whether you sneak or go loud, the last heavy scav needs to go down.
Tip:
If detected, he’ll run into the next room and shoot through walls. Use cover and short bursts.
Use quick hacks such as: optical reset and or Short circut to get an edge in battle.
🟦 10. Find Sandra Dorsett

Head into the bathroom.
Interact with the tub to check the body.
Dialogue options (flavor only):
- “Checking biomon…”
- “Got another body…”
- “Is that safe?”
Important:
When you pull Sandra out, a timed button prompt appears — ask Jackie for the airhypo.
🟪 11. Carry Sandra to the Terrace

Jackie clears the path. Follow him out.
Trauma Team arrives in their golden VTOL — an iconic Act 1 moment.
🟧 12. Place Sandra on the Stretcher

Once the nanotube stretcher unfolds, put Sandra down and step aside.
After Trauma stabilizes her, they leave.
🟦 13. Talk to Jackie + Take Elevator
Head back inside → talk to Jackie → leave via the opposite door.
🟩 14. Call Wakako

Jackie suggests updating the fixer.
Hold down on D-pad → choose Wakako.
Dialogue doesn’t change anything here.
🟧 15. Ride with Jackie
Get into the passenger seat.
Halfway home, a scavenger van ambushes you.
🔫 16. Car Combat

- Press Triangle/Y to lean out
- Shoot the attacking van
- Aim for the driver when they pull up beside you
- Jackie handles the driving
The chase ends when MaxTac arrives.
You can skip the driving cutscenes afterward by pressing O/B.
🟩 17. Go Home
Exit the car, enter your building, ride the elevator up.
T-Bug calls again here, unlocking The Gift side job.
Check your stash if you want — new armor/weapons may appear later.
🛏️ 18. Go to Bed

Interact with the bed to complete the mission.
Next main quest: The Ripperdoc.
