If you’re crafting anything metal-related, you’re going to need a lot of Charcoal.
And yes — just like Tar — it’s made in the Charcoal Kiln.
Step 1: Unlock the Blacksmith
First things first:
You need to rescue and unlock the Blacksmith at your base.
Without him, no kiln.
Step 2: Build the Charcoal Kiln
To build the Kiln, you need:
- 20 Stone
Place it at your base like any other crafting station.
Step 3: Craft Charcoal
Once the Kiln is placed, supply it with:
- 17 Wood Logs
- 3 Dirt (any type works)
⏳ Craft time: 5 minutes
🔥 Output: 15 Charcoal per batch
Short craft time. Solid output. Worth running constantly.
What Is Charcoal Used For?
Charcoal is one of the most important mid-game resources.
You’ll use it for:
🔨 Metal & Smelting
- Copper Bars
- Bronze Bars
- Bronze decorations (Barrels, Cups, Bowls, Torches, etc.)
- Various Smelter recipes
🛡️ Armor Sets
- Full Adventurer Armor Set
- Brazen Bull gear
- Multiple Forge-based upgrades
🏗️ Crafting Stations & Furniture
- Butter Churn
- Bronze Chandelier
- Bronze Bathtub
- Decorative banners and statues
And that’s just scratching the surface.
Smart Tip
If you’re smelting Copper or Bronze, you’re already using Charcoal.
So don’t craft it only when you need it — keep the Kiln running in the background.
Charcoal is one of those materials you think you have enough of…
Until you suddenly don’t.
