Sparks are one of those “why do I suddenly need 10 of these?” resources.
You don’t think about them early on…
Until the Flame Altar upgrade screen stares at you.
Let’s make this simple.
What Are Sparks Used For?

Sparks are required to upgrade your Flame Altar.
Stronger Flame =
- Access to new areas
- Removal of deadly Shroud barriers
- Overall progression
So yes — they matter.
Where to Get Sparks

🔥 1. Flame Shrines
These are scattered across Embervale.
- Usually reward 1 Spark
- Occasionally more
- Just interact with the shrine to collect it
Simple.
🔥 2. Flame Sanctums
Bigger structures. Same idea.
They function similarly to Shrines and also reward Sparks.
How to Spot Them Easily (Important)
Here’s the thing most guides don’t emphasize:
Once you explore and unfog more of the map,
Sparks (Shrines & Sanctums) will start appearing on your map automatically.
They show up as a flame icon.

So the more you explore, the easier they become to track.
No need to blindly wander once they’re revealed.
Known Early Locations

You can find Shrines and Sanctums:
- Near the Mineshaft (west of Scavenger Camp)
- East of Carpenter’s Vault
- West of Hunter’s Vault
- South of Revelwood Ancient Spire
But honestly?
The real trick is this:
Explore → Unfog → Mark → Collect
Once they’re visible on your map, just pin them and grab them when convenient.
Final Tip
Don’t ignore Shrines when you pass them.
Even if you don’t need Sparks right now —
Future-you upgrading the Flame will thank you.
And if you’re pushing into higher-level zones, having your Flame upgraded early makes everything smoother.
Explore smart. Collect smart. Progress faster.
