A Lay of the Land is a multi-step Spaceport quest in Arc Raiders where you’ll collect two items — Shipping Notes and a LIDAR Scanner — and then safely extract with them in a single run. Unlike most quests for Shani, this one requires extraction, so keep your pockets safe and your head on a swivel.
This guide explains exact locations, easy navigation tips, and includes first-hand notes from actually completing the quest under PvP pressure.
A Lay of the Land – Quest Objectives
- Reach the Jiangsu Warehouse
- Find the Shipping Notes in the Foreman’s Office
- Locate the LIDAR Scanner in Control Tower A6
- Extract and deliver 1 LIDAR Scanner to Shani
1. Reach the Jiangsu Warehouse
The quest takes place entirely on Spaceport.
The Jiangsu Warehouse is located on the far east side of the map, between the Water Towers and Fuel Depot.
If you spawn nearby (like I did), this step is basically free. If not, expect resistance — especially around the Water Towers where patrols overlap.
2. Find the Shipping Notes (Foreman’s Office)
Enter through the northeastern entrance of the warehouse.
Inside:
- Go up the stairs on your right.
- Turn right again to reach the small office room.
- On the desk you’ll see the Shipping Notes — interact to collect them.
My Run
I spawned almost on top of Jiangsu Warehouse, rushed upstairs, and grabbed the notes quickly. My screenshot ended up a bit dark — but the interaction prompt is easy to see once you’re in the room.
Immediately after grabbing the notes, I heard footsteps — another player entered the building. I turned, Stickler in hand, and dropped him before he could react. Welcome to Spaceport.
3. Head to Control Tower A6 (Center of Map)
Now head toward the center of Spaceport, where Launch Tower A6 dominates the skyline.
Your destination is the Control Tower A6 building, directly across from it.
Enter through the front entrance (facing the Launch Tower), go upstairs, and:
- Exit the staircase
- Take the first right
- Look for a metal barrier with a crate behind it
- Interact to collect the LIDAR Scanner
IMPORTANT
Put the LIDAR Scanner in your Prison Pocket immediately.
If you die while it’s in your inventory, the quest fails.
My Run
The sprint to A6 was spicy.
Crossing multiple open fields means PvP ambush potential is high — and I ran into several players.
Two close fights later, I made it to the tower, went up to the first floor, and the crate was exactly where the quest text hints.
The good news?
The LIDAR Scanner does fit in your prison pocket, so after you grab it, the stress level drops dramatically.
4. Extract Successfully
I was lucky: an extraction point appeared 100 meters away.
With both objective items secured, extraction completed the quest instantly.
If extraction spawns far away for you — move slow, stay in cover, and avoid sprinting through the open areas around Launch Tower A6. They’re PvP magnets.

- Smoke Grenade ×2
A solid utility reward set, especially the key.
