The With a Trace quest in Arc Raiders is the direct follow-up to Reduced to Rubble. This time, Shani sends you back into Blue Gate to investigate a mysterious Barren Clearing filled with destroyed ARC machines—and to figure out who or what brought them down.

It’s a simple quest with no extraction requirement and no items you need to bring. Perfect to run with a free loadout or while completing other objectives on Blue Gate.

With a Trace – Quest Objectives
Shani gives you this quest after completing Reduced to Rubble. Your tasks are:
- Reach the Barren Clearing
- Find signs of who brought down the ARC machines
- Inspect the Adorned Wreckage
- Inspect the communication device
- Return to Shani to finish
How to Complete the “With a Trace” Quest
1. Reach the Barren Clearing
Once you spawn in Blue Gate, set a waypoint on Barren Clearing—located on the Western side of the map.
You’ll see a massive ARC wreckage in the area, spread across rocks and debris. Get close enough and your first objective will auto-complete.
2. Find Signs of Who Destroyed the ARC Machines
Inside the ARC wreckage you’re looking for a gray spherical part, glowing faint yellow.
Tips for spotting it:
- It’s usually near the center of the fallen ARC machine
- Using binoculars helps spot the glow
- It’s not tiny—you won’t miss it once you’re in the right spot
Interact with the sphere to move to the next step.
3. Inspect the Adorned Wreckage
Your next waypoint appears automatically.
The Adorned Wreckage is located south of the Barren Clearing, just below Trapper’s Glade.
You don’t need to pick anything up or fight anything here—entering the area is enough to complete the objective.
4. Inspect the Communication Device
For the final step, look for a yellow fusebox-style communication device located among the collapsed ARC structures.
Clues:
- It’s usually at the base of the tallest ARC wreck
- Glows yellow when you’re close
- Interact with it to finish the mission
This concludes the field portion of the quest. Once your run ends (whether you extract or die), return to Shani and collect your rewards.
Rewards for Completing With a Trace
You receive:
Looting Mk.2 Augment ×1
- Automatically removes attached Ticks after 1 second
- Expands trinket slot capacity to 3
- Can be sold for 2,000 Raider Tokens
Medium Shield ×1
A reliable defensive item offering strong frontal protection at the cost of reduced mobility. Very useful in close-quarters firefights.
