🟧 Overview
The Ripperdoc is your first proper dive into Night City’s chrome culture. Jackie takes you to Viktor Vector — the legendary back-alley ripperdoc who upgrades your eyes and hands with essential cyberware.
This mission:
- sets up your relationship with Viktor
- introduces Lifepath dialogue
- unlocks car summoning
- gives you your first major cyberware install
- leads directly into The Ride
Let’s break it down.
🟦 Walkthrough
1. Meet with Jackie
Leave your apartment and follow the objective down toward the street.
Encounters on the way:
- Regina Jones calls you → unlocks future gigs.
- Coach Fred pitches his boxing robot → unlocks Beat on the Brat.
- Opposite the elevator: Wilson’s Gun Shop → automatically unlocks The Gun.
When you’re ready, head to the food stand downstairs.
2. Talk to Jackie
This is where you’ll see your first Lifepath-specific dialogue. Choose it — you need 10 Lifepath choices in a single playthrough for the Stanislavski’s Method achievement.
Dialogue options don’t change the mission outcome, but they deepen worldbuilding.
When you’re done, select [Stand] → Let’s go.
3. Summon Your Car
Jackie hands back your key.
Press D-pad Right to call your vehicle.
Hop in when it arrives.
4. Drive to Viktor
Head to the ripperdoc clinic in Little China. Park in the marked zone.
Night City is now partially open for exploration — but for now, head inside.
5. Meet Viktor
Walk down the stairs into the underground clinic.
Start the conversation.
Dialogue (none affect the story):
- “Looking to upgrade.”
- “Pay you once the job’s done.”
- “Heard of Dexter DeShawn?” (optional)
When Vik tells you to sit, take your place in the chair.
🟩 6. Install New Cyberware
You now receive the two core early-game upgrades:
Kiroshi Optics MK.1 (Eyes)
- Enemy scanning
- Weak spot detection
- Better loot info
- Quest interaction prompts
Ballistic Coprocessor (Hands)
- Improves gun handling
- Better recoil control
- Enables certain smart-weapon features
Follow Vik’s prompts:
- [Jack in] to begin
- Select the two cyberware slots
- [Place arm] for the hand install
Everything here is linear and story-locked. You cannot skip the install, and you cannot pay the 21,000 eddies debt yet.
7. Scan Viktor
Viktor asks you to test your new optics.
Use your scanner to check him.
This shows you:
- threat level
- item rarity
- dialogue tags
- new scanning UI elements
Once done, finish the conversation.
You now owe Viktor money, unlocking the Paid in Full side job — this can be completed much later.
