Tar isn’t something you find lying around.

You craft it.

And yes — it’s easier than it looks.


Step 1: Unlock the Blacksmith

Before anything else, you need the Blacksmith at your base.

Once unlocked, you’ll gain access to the Charcoal Kiln.

Step 2: Build a Charcoal Kiln

To build the Kiln, you need:

  • 20 Stone

Place it at your base like any crafting station.


Step 3: Craft Tar

Once the Kiln is built, supply it with:

  • 30 Wood Logs
  • 6 Dirt (any type works)

Activate it.

⏳ Craft time: 6 minutes

After that, you’ll get Tar.


What Is Tar Used For?

Tar is used in a surprising number of recipes, including:

Combat

  • Explosive Arrows
  • Explosive Powder Ball
  • Fireball I–IV
  • Wailing Blade (multiple versions)

Crafting & Stations

  • Tanning Station
  • Flammable Goo
  • Mauveine

Building Materials

  • Tarred Roof Blocks
  • Tarred Wood Blocks
  • Tarred Straw Blocks
  • Polished Wooden Doors
  • Hollow Halls Blocks

In short:
If you’re moving into mid-game crafting, Tar becomes essential.

Always keep your Kiln running.

You’ll need Charcoal anyway — and while you’re at it, producing Tar in batches saves you from crafting bottlenecks later.
