If your armor upgrades suddenly require Linen, congrats — you’ve officially left the Stone Age.
Here’s what you actually need to do.
Step 1: Unlock the Hunter
To craft Linen, you must:

- Rescue and summon the Hunter
- Complete her questline
- Finish the quest: “The Hunter’s Hand Spindle”

That quest unlocks the Hand Spindle, which is required to produce Linen.

No spindle = no Linen.
Step 2: Build the Hand Spindle
Before placing it, you’ll also need:
- A Table Saw
- Wood Planks (made at the Table Saw)
So yes — there’s a small progression chain here:
Hunter → Questline → Table Saw → Wood Planks → Hand Spindle
Step 3: Get Flax
Linen is made from Flax.

Flax is found in Revelwood (blue flowers in the forest).
If you want a full breakdown on that, check the Flax guide.
Better yet: farm it using Seedbeds so you never run out again.
Step 4: Turn Flax Into Linen

Once the Hand Spindle is placed:
- Interact with it
- Insert Flax
- Wait for it to process
- Collect your Linen
Input per batch:
- Input 2 Flax
- time: 10 sec
- Output 1 Linnen
That’s it.
What Is Linen Used For?
Linen is required for:
- Medium Backpack upgrade
- Advanced Glider
- Multiple armor sets
- Mid-game crafting progression
Once you unlock it, your gear options expand fast.
Practical Advice
Don’t just harvest wild Flax forever.
Set up a small farm near your base and automate your supply. Once you understand that loop, Linen becomes trivial — and progression speeds up dramatically.
Fog doesn’t care if you’re undergeared.
Linen fixes that.
