Step-by-Step Walkthrough
Step 1: Go to Shakatu
Follow the mission marker. When you get close enough Kliff automatically dismounts and approaches the camp — no sneaking required. A cutscene plays, and the fight starts immediately after. Be ready.
Step 2: Defeat the Soldiers
This group fights differently from standard enemies. They carry shields and will try to circle around you — standing still and trading hits is how you get punished here.
As soon as the fight starts, dodge back to create space and get the whole group in front of you. Attack from outside their formation rather than letting them close in. Take them down one at a time and keep moving. Once every soldier is down Shakatu appears.
Step 3: Speak with Shakatu
Follow Shakatu and let the conversation play out. Once the walk-and-talk ends the quest completes and the next quest begins.

Don’t rush into the soldier group. These aren’t regular enemies — they shield up and surround you fast. Dodge back first, get them in front of you, then engage. Fighting from inside a circle of shielded soldiers is how first attempts fail.
The cutscene leads straight into the fight. There’s no downtime between arriving and the combat starting. Make sure your health is topped up before approaching the camp marker.

Use the anvil at Shakatu’s camp before moving on. There is an anvil at the camp that temporarily boosts your gear. Use it before you leave — it gives you an extra edge going into the Hornsplitter boss fight in the next quest. Easy to walk straight past if you’re focused on following Shakatu out.
Grab the fast travel point behind the camp. There is a fast travel point just behind Shakatu’s camp near the edge of the mountan — easy to miss if you follow Shakatu straight out after the fight. Take a moment to activate it before leaving. It will save you a long ride back to this area if you need to return later.
Pain Point
The shield soldiers feel like a difficulty spike compared to everything in the surrounding quests. It’s not a hard fight once you know to stay mobile and keep them in front of you — but going in expecting a standard brawl will catch you off guard.
FAQ
Do I need to sneak into the camp? No. Just approach the marker and a cutscene triggers automatically followed by the fight.
Why won’t Shakatu appear after the cutscene? All soldiers must be defeated first. If Shakatu hasn’t shown up yet there’s still an enemy alive somewhere in the area.
What comes after Rebellion or Revolution? Cheers Echoing From the Edge — which includes the Hornsplitter boss fight. Stock up and prepare before starting it.
