In Enshrouded, Salt isn’t just a seasoning — it’s a key progression resource, mainly used to create Dried Fur, which unlocks better armor early on.
The good news: there’s a guaranteed Salt location.
The bad news: it’s in the Shroud.
The Closest Salt Location (Recommended)
The closest Salt deposit I’ve found is near Saline Quarry.
- Only ~360 meters East from Cinder Vault
- Located inside a small cave
- Contains multiple Salt nodes
- Much quicker than running all the way to Egerton
Egerton Salt Mines
- Located in a Shrouded area
- Marked on the map after unlocking the Hunter
- Can be reached quickly by heading northwest from the Ancient Spire
Inside the mine, you’ll find Salt nodes that can be mined directly.

You’re on a Shroud timer here. Grab what you need and get out.
And Do not forget your Pickaxe
Does Salt Respawn?
Yes. You have two options:
- Wait a few in-game days for nodes to respawn
- Exit and reload the world to refresh them instantly
If you’re farming Salt specifically, reloading is much faster.
What Is Salt Used For?
Salt is mainly used to craft Dried Fur:
- Combine Salt + Animal Fur using a Drying Rack
- Dried Fur is required for Scout armor and other upgrades
This makes Salt a bottleneck resource early on, especially if you’re upgrading backpacks or armor.
Quick Tip
If you’re already heading into the Shroud for Salt, bring empty inventory space and plan your route. One clean run through the Egerton Salt Mines usually gives enough Salt for multiple upgrades.
